California Midwinter International Exposition photograph album, 1893-1894.

The photograph album contains 144 albumen prints taken between 1893 and 1894 by Isaiah W. Taber, the official photographer of the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition. The album features views of the grounds, buildings, attractions, events, and exhibits of the Midwinter Fair in Golden Gate Park. Included in the album are several of the main structures of the Fair, including the Electric Tower of the Grand Court, the Allegorical Fountain, the Administration Building, the Fine Arts Building, the Horticulture and Agriculture Building, the Manufacturer's and Liberal Arts Building, and the Mechanical Arts Building. Among the attractions featured are the Firth Wheel, the Scenic Railway, and Dante's Inferno. Also pictured are the buildings and exhibits of various counties, states and nations; general views of the Exposition grounds; crowd and entertainment scenes; international groups in traditional dress; two unidentified group portraits, possibly of Midwinter Fair executives; and an unidentified portrait with "P. N. Lilienthal" stamped opposite. P.N. Lilienthal was the treasurer of the Fair. Many night views of the lighted buildings and grounds are also included. Each print includes a number, caption and "by Taber Photo" along the lower edge.

Morris Badt was born in Schwersenz, Posen, Germany in 1830. He emigrated to New York in 1847 and moved to San Francsico in 1851, where he established a mercantile business. He later established businesses in Elko and Wells, Nevada. He married Lena Posener in 1868. Badt died in San Francisco in 1899. Mirel Lipshuetz Badt was the stepmother of Morris Badt.
